On the 15th anniversary of China's accession to the WTO, the 5th China WTO Moot Court Competition was held at China University of Political Science and Law Changping Campus on December 17th, 2016, a total of 16 well-known universities in China took part in the competition. Our team assembled in October. Professor XIAO Jun from Institute of International Law is the coach and postgraduates FEI Simin and LUO Sa are assistant coaches. Team members include postgraduates LI Danhong, ZHANG Lu, RUI Xinyue, YANG Yang, SHENG Yuhan and undergraduates ZHONG Huayun. After intense competition, Wuhan University Team won the second place of this competition as well as Best Oralist of both Claimant and Respondent, Best Memorial, Best Guidance of Memorial and Best Guidance of Oral Submission.

China WTO Moot Court Competition is co-hosted by Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China, China University of Political Science, Southwest University of Political Science and Law and China Law Society. The competition is intended to propel the study of WTO and its Dispute Settlement Mechanism, to promote the mastering and application of WTO rules to innovate the discussion about the economy globalization and to improve students' comprehensive legal ability and capability of English debate through the simulation of the panel procedure under the WTO's Dispute Settlement Mechanism. This is the 5th year of this competition as well as the 15th anniversary of China's accession to the WTO. And that's why the core issues of this competition are hotspot issues in the field of trade remedy such as "non-market economy clause" and "the zeroing". Judges of this competition gathered some of the most famous experts and scholars in the WTO field of the country, including Director YU Fang and Director WANG Qiang of the Department of Treaty and Law of the Ministry of Commerce, and lawyers FENG Xuewei, PU Lingchen and PENG Jun, who have been working on the WTO dispute litigation for a long time.

The competition was held in two days. In the morning of 17th, the Forum of 15th Anniversary of China's accession to the WTO was held in China University of Political Science and Law. Doctor ZHAO Hong and Professor YANG Guohua made impressive speeches and arouse great applause. In the afternoon of 17th, after two intense matches, our team advanced into the semi-final round with top score. In the semi-final and final in 18th, our team members demonstrated strong research and flexible debating skills and impressed the Panel. Finally, we won the second place and had a great end for this trip to Beijing. During the competition, the team members mastered the fundamental knowledge WTO, greatly improved their legal research and writing ability, explored their potential of English debating, laying a solid foundation for their future study in this field.

As the only team that has won the First Prize for three consecutive years, the success of our team is inseparable from the support of school and teachers, the diligence of team members. Through the experience of this competition, we will continue to summarize the experience and unite together, keep on working on the new chapter of Wuhan University of WTO Moot Court Competition.
