Current Status of Talents Cultivation

The Institution of International Law has trained a multitude of high-level theoretical and practical talents. Former Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Masimov, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress WAN Exiang, vice president of Supreme People's Court TAO Kai, chief of the Bureau of Administration of International Civil Aviation Organization LIU Fang, senior legal officer of International Civil Aviation Organization HUANG Jiefang, Principal of China University of Political Science and Law HUANG Jin, Chinese Ambassador to Malaysia HUANG Huikang, Chief of the Bureau of Maritime Rights and Interests DENG Zhonghua, Director-General of the Department of Treaty and Law of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the president of the Jiangsu Provincial High People's Court XU Qianfei etc. are all the outstanding representatives. The doctoral theses of SHI Jingxia and HE Qisheng, postgraduates of the Institute of International Law, were selected as the National Excellent Doctoral Theses. Representative teams of the Institute of International Law won awards in the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot in 2011, 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017 as well as the Phillip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition in 2014, and has achieved the best rankings among universities in Chinese mainland in the history.

The Secretary-General of Hague Conference on Private International Law Hans van Loon, former Judge of the International Court of Justice SHI Jiuyong as well as the present Judge of the International Court of Justice Xue Hanqin who once visited all complemented the Institute of International Law as "the cradle of Chinese talents in international law".
