On May 6th, the 2017 Annual Conference of the China Society of International Law was held in our school. The theme was “The Revolution of the New Times and the Development of International Law: Contributions of China”. More than 480 practitioners, who are experts and scholars from international universities, research institutes, law firms and other international law studies attended the academic annual meeting.
The meeting included Li Shishi, President of the China Society of International Law and Chairman of the Law Committee of the National People's Congress, Executive Vice President of the China Society of International Law, Professor Li Ming of Peking University, Executive Vice President of the China Society of International Law, and Xu Hong, Director of the Department of Treaty and Law of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Executive Vice President of the Chinese Society of International Law, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Foreign Affairs Yuan Nansheng, Vice President of the Chinese Society of International Law, President of the China University of Political Science and Law Huang Jin, Vice President of the China Society of International Law, Professor Yu Jinsong of the Renmin University of China, Vice President of the China Society of International Law, Zhang Haiwen, Director of the Department of International Cooperation of the State Oceanic Administration, and Li Wei, deputy director of the Department of Treaty and Law of the Ministry of Commerce. Han Jin, secretary of the school party committee, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. Li Ming presided over.
Han Jin pointed out that since the establishment of Wuhan University, especially after the founding of New China, a group of outstanding jurists and law teachers have emerged, and excellent law students have been sent at home and abroad. As the key research base of humanities and social sciences of the Ministry of Education and the first batch of national high-end think tank pilot units, the Institute of International Law of Wuhan University has always maintained a leading position in China's international law research. It is expected that Wuhan University will cooperate more extensively with the China Society of International Law and work together to promote the development of international law and the development of more disciplines in the humanities and social sciences, and promote the harmonious progress of the rule of law society.
Li Shishi pointed out that the current international community is increasingly calling for global change and global governance system. Chinese international law scholars should boldly innovate and contribute to the development of international law; actively voice and contribute to the realization of the Chinese dream; strengthen leadership To cultivate global governance talents. We must adhere to the correct institutional direction, firmly establish the "four consciousnesses", always put the cause of international law on the overall situation of national diplomacy to think, plan and advance, concentrate on academic research, be brave in theoretical innovation, actively engage in practice, and provide suggestions for safeguarding China's national interests. In order to promote the international rule of law process, we will greet the party's 19th National Congress with outstanding achievements.
Huang Jin conveyed the spirit of the important speech of General Secretary Xi Jinping when he visited China University of Political Science and Law on May 3, from the rule of law, the cultivation of rule of law personnel, the legal education and the discipline construction of law. He pointed out that this is not only an inspiration to the China University of Political Science and Law, but also an inspiration to the entire legal and legal community and the higher education sector in China. The China Society of International Law should conscientiously study and implement the spirit of the important speech of General Secretary Xi Jinping.
At the opening ceremony, the award ceremony of the "China International Law Excellent Scientific Research Achievement Award (Aerospace Science and Technology Award)" was held. Huang Jin, Xu Hong, and Li Wei made the theme report of the conference.
Founded in 1980, the China Society of International Law is a national academic body registered with the Ministry of Civil Affairs and headed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The annual meeting was hosted by the China Society of International Law, hosted by Wuhan University, and co-organized by the Institute of International Law of Wuhan University and the School of Law. During the two-day conference, delegates conducted in-depth exchanges on a series of topics, such as public international law, private international law and international economic law, in the form of conference reports and thematic discussions, providing solid international law for the development and participation of the state in global governance under the new situation.
