2016 Wuhan University International Private Law Luojia Ph.D. Student Forum was held in School of Law

In order to focus on academic frontiers, open up academic horizons, and encourage academic innovation, from October 14 to 15, 2016 Wuhan University International Private Law Ph.D. Student Forum was held in the 323 classroom of the School of Law, with the support of the Graduate School of Wuhan University, co-sponsored by Wuhan University School of Law and Wuhan University School of Law Institute of International Law. PhD students from international private law majors from all over the country gathered in Luojia Mountain to exchange ideas, study, think, enlighten and inspire together.

 

At 8:30 on the 14th, Guo Yujun, Professor of Institute of International Law at Wuhan University School of Law, Vice President and Secretary General of China Society for Private International Law, and Deputy Secretary General of the Standing Committee of Hubei Provincial People's Congress; Zhang Li, Deputy Director of Graduate Training Office of Wuhan University; Song Lianbin, Professor of School of International Law of China University of Political Science and Law, Executive Director and Deputy Secretary-General of China Society of Private International Law; Wang Jinlan, Professor of Law School of Anhui University, Executive Director of China Society for Private International Law; Ou Fuyong, Associate Dean of Hunan Normal University Law School, Professor, Executive Director of China Society of Private International Law; Ganyong, Associate Professor of Institute of International Law of Wuhan University Law School and Deputy Secretary General of the China Society of Private International Law attended the opening ceremony of the forum. Professor Guo Yujun gave a welcome speech at the opening ceremony and expressed warm welcome to the teachers and students attending the conference. Deputy Director Zhang Li appreciated the forum and encouraged the forum to continue in a high quality.

 

The forum selected 1 first prize, 2 second prizes and 5 third prizes. At 9:00 in the morning, the participating teachers presented the honorary certificate to the winners and took a group photo. Immediately, under the auspices of Associate Professor Gan Yong, Professor Song Lianbin made the first keynote speech of this forum: "The hot issues of international commercial arbitration: international and domestic." Later, Professor Ou Fuyong made a keynote speech: "China's use and response to the ban." After the two professors’ speeches, the forum entered an interactive session, and all participants held a heated discussion on issues related to international commercial arbitration and the ban.

 

On the 14th, from 14:00 to 17:00, on the 15th, from 9:00 to 12:00, the eight award-winning doctoral students of this forum were giving a report of about 20 minutes on the theme of the award-winning academic papers. It was then reviewed by the participating experts. On the afternoon of the 14th, the forum was presided over by Professor Ou Fuyong. Professor Guo Yujun and Professor Wang Jinlan commented on that. The forum on the morning of the 15th was hosted by Professor Wang Jinlan. Professor Ou Fuyong, Associate Professor Gan Yong and Associate Professor Zou Guoyong commented on that. Each teacher’s comment period was limited to 15 minutes. On the 15th, from 13:00 to 16:00, there was a youth talking segment. Dr. Hu Wei, editor of Jiangxi Social Science, Dr. Li Shaohua, editor of Commercial Arbitration of Wuhan Arbitration Commission, and Dr.Liang Wenwen from University of Manchester, UK, Associate Professor of Institute of International Law at Wuhan University School of Law, shared the experience with the students in the “writing and publishing of academic papers” and answer the questions raised by the students.

 

This forum has established an academic exchange platform for doctoral students from this university and other institutions, which will help the participating doctoral students to further expand their academic horizons and enhance their research capabilities.
