At 7:00 pm on March 15th, at the invitation of the International Economic Law Party Branch and the Graduate Student Employment Service Center, Professor Zhang Xianglan, an expert of Maritime Law at the Institute of International Law and doctoral tutor, conducted a face-to-face symposium with the students in the conference room of the International Law Office.
When the flowers blossom in the spring, it’s the busiest time for graduates to find the job in the year. But can these excellent students cope with the various interviews for finding a job? Our law school has a special feature, which is that the number of people who take civil servants every year is considered to be the largest in the whole school. Many students have also participated in or will apply for the civil service exam this year. However, everyone faces a serious practical problem, that is, civil servant interview. It can be regarded as the most difficult and unpredictable of all interviews, and the requirements of all aspects of candidates are very strict. Many of the students who have already taken the civil service exams feel a little helpless about the interviews with civil servants. Because these students not only concentrate on learning professional knowledge, especially those who have not participated in the work, there is very little practice or training in this area. Professor Zhang Xianglan recently participated in the interview of civil servants in Hubei Province as an examiner. During the interview process, he also found that the newly graduated students lacked some interview skills, which led to a disadvantage in the competition. This situation needs to be improved. Therefore, we have organized our symposium.
The symposium was conducted in the form of questions and answers. However, unlike the previous methods of “student questions and teacher answers”, Mr. Zhang asked ten questions in turn, and the graduate students present answered them separately. She then commented on the answer and pointed out the key points and rating criteria. For example, first of all, Teacher Zhang called out a classmate and asked him to take the first step of the usual interview: brief introduction of his study and work experience, hobbies and specialties within three minutes. When the classmate finished the introduction. Teacher Zhang will comment and then explain how to make a suitable self-introduction on request. For example, this introduction must be clear-cut, logically rigorous, comprehensive, which gives the examiner a good impression. First of all, explain your own learning experience, how to achieve academic results, what kind of rewards have been won, and what works have been published. Then we talk about what kind of work or social position or social practice, what the work results, what kind of rewards, what benefits, etc. Then we talk about your hobbies and specialties according to your situation and the position you are applying for. Finally, Teacher Zhang mentioned that when making an introduction, you must not recite it and it’s like a speech. Otherwise, if the answer to the question is not smooth enough, it will form a sharp contrast with later performance and leave a bad impression on the examiner.
Next, Mr. Zhang specifically raised nine interview questions, namely: 1. The survey results show that lack of integrity has become a social issue, what do you think about it; 2. Why the Party Central Committee now attaches so much importance to anti-corruption, in your opinion how we can do to fight corruption; 3. Employment is the basis of people's livelihood. One of the goals of labor re-employment is to realize market re-employment, talk about the relationship between market-based employment and the government's implementation of re-employment projects; 4. The government announces "people-oriented" and announces In the peak period of power consumption, to power down the industrial power supply to ensure the normal use of electricity by residents, please evaluate this practice; 5. Analyze the reasons why young people frequently quit and complain about their current work and subjective Measure to takes; 6. Leaders are in meetings, and visitors want to see leaders, what do you do as a secretary; 7. How to seek help from colleagues who are not in harmony with you; 8. Students are very confident in your success in the interview, but you are lost to a classmate who you underestimate, how do you deal with the failure of this application; 9. In the face of the tsunami loss, how to organize the fundraising activities of the unit. For these questions, Teacher Zhang also asked the students to answer, then made comments, and finally asked advised how to answer this question.
After commenting on the above questions, Teacher Zhang summarized that the civil service interviews mainly examine the seven aspects of the candidate's abilities and problems: 1. ideas, 2. the ability to analyse and solve problems, 3. organization coordination ability, 4. competence of meeting an emergency, 5. logical thinking ability, 6. language expression ability, 7. behavior instrument. During the school, students must pay attention to the cultivation of these abilities and skills. In particular, they should pay special attention to the formation of their own instrumental habits, and take precautions to succeed in future interviews.
Teacher Zhang also analyzed the design of the questions and the steps in answering the questions. Teacher Zhang mentioned that the civil service interview score is very fair and the competition is fierce. There is often only a gap of zero points between the candidates. Therefore, she sincerely hope that the students can prepare as soon as possible so that they can grasp the minutes of their own destiny.
Finally, Teacher Zhang once again stressed that candidates must be polite and say hello to the examiner after entering the examination room. This can leave a very good impression on the examiner, and can also let himself relax his nervousness.
The time seemed fly so fast in the symposium, and our arrangement can't be done very carefully. I just hope that the students who are not able to participate in the discussion can benefit from this little bit of information and wish you all a satisfactory job. (Organizer: Yang Zhizhong, Hong Yiqing)
