On November 16, 2016, Dr. Christophe Peschoux, Head of the Special Mechanisms Division of the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), was invited by the National Institute of International Law at Wuhan University, a high-end think tank, to make a theme at this week's International Law Salon. For - UN in Nutshell: How to be an intern and get a job in the United Nations System. The lecture was hosted by Professor Nie Jianqiang, deputy director of the Institute of International Law, and attracted nearly 100 students to attend the lecture. After the lecture began, more than a dozen students came to the back to listen to the lecture.
Before Dr. Christophe Peschoux gave a formal speech, Professor Nie Jianqiang introduced the main work experience and achievements of Dr. Christophe Peschoux. Then Dr. Christophe Peschoux presented six pathways for internships and work opportunities in the United Nations system. The first is through the UN Young Professional Program (YPP); the second is through the UN Junior Professional Officer (JPO); the third is through the UN Volunteers (UNV) The fourth is through specific internship projects of various agencies in the United Nations; the fifth is that applicants apply through the submission of corresponding applications; the last is to work in other international non-governmental organizations and get corresponding achievements. Dr. Christophe Peschoux also introduced the relevant professional requirements such as academic qualifications, age and language proficiency.
After completing the wonderful lectures, Dr. Christophe Peschoux also had a positive interactive question and answer with the teachers and students. They answered the questions raised by the teachers and students one by one, such as how to choose the work department for different majors.
