Professor Huang Zhixiong Assisted in Wuzhen World Internet Conference

On November 16 to 18, 2016, the Third World Internet Conference was held in Wuzhen, Zhejiang. President Xi Jinping delivered an important speech in the opening ceremony via video link. Liu Yunshan, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau, delivered a keynote speech at the opening ceremony of the conference. More than 1,600 guests from over 110 countries and regions across five continents attended the conference. November 18th, the English and Chinese versions of Wuzhen Report on World Internet Development 2016, which was reviewed and approved by the High-level Advisory Council of the Secretariat of the World Internet Conference Organizing Committee (the High-level Advisory Council), were officially released and became the landmark achievements of the conference.

 

Since September 2016, Professor Huang Zhixiong, deputy president of the National High-level Think Tank WHU Institute of International Law, had been involved in the brewing and drafting of the Wuzhen Report at the invitation of relevant departments. And he participated in the finalization and deliberation of the Wuzhen Report as the adviser of the secretary-general of the High-level Advisory Council during the 3rd World Internet Conference, which made significant contributions to the report’s building consensus among 31 Chinese and foreign members of the High-level Advisory Council and the smooth passage of the report. In addition, as one of the core experts of the Chinese side, Professor Huang Zhixiong participated in the “China-US Think Tank Dialogue” between the Chinese Academy of Cyberspace and the Brookings Institution of the U.S. on November 17. He had in-depth discussions with the U.S. side on issues such as the direction of the new U.S. president’s cyber security policy and the prospects for cooperation between China and the U.S.in cyberspace security.
