The First Meeting of the Council of the National High-level Think Tank Wuhan University Institute of International Law and the Preparatory Work Meeting of Langfang Research Center Was Ceremoniously Held

On January 19, 2016, the first meeting of the Council of the National High-level Think Tank Wuhan University Institute of International Law (hereinafter abbreviated as the Institute) and the preparatory work meeting of the Langfang Research Center was ceremoniously held in Langfang. Wan Exiang, vice chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, chairman of the KMT Central Committee, chief expert of the Think Tank, honorary director of the Institute, Huang Jin, president of China University of Political Science and Law, Shen Zhuanghai, president of WHU Academy of Humanities and Social Sciences Zeng Lingliang, senior professor of Humanities and Social Sciences of Wuhan University, Xiao Yongping, president of Wuhan University School of Law and director of the Institute, Yu Minyou, executive vice president of Wuhan University China Institute of Boundary and Ocean Studies, Deng Zhaohui and He Qisheng, deputy directors of the Institute, Song Taiping, deputy director of the People’s Congress of Hebei Province , and Lu Xiaoguang, deputy director of the Provincial People's Political Consultative Conference of Hebei Province attended the meeting. At the meeting, Wan pointed out that efforts should be made to build the Institute’s think tank into a world-class core think tank in the field of international law, to provide counsel and advice for China’s participation in reforming the global governance system, and to promote China’s voice making, program presenting and Chinese wisdom revealing.

 

Wan put forward four hopes for future work: first, serving the overall situation of national development strategies and diplomatic work such as the “the Belt and Road Initiative”; second, serving China’s participation in international organizations and international governance; third, serving public diplomacy; fourth, serving the cause of international law in Asian and African countries.
