With the continuous development of the global economy and the growing economic and trade ties between the countries, China has gradually developed into a significant world trade and investment country, and more Chinese enterprises have "gone out" to participate fully in international trade and investment. In particular, the "One Belt, One Road" initiative proposes a new platform for further strengthening international cooperation, connecting each other's development strategies, complementing each other's advantages, and promoting common development. At the same time, it also gives new opportunities for the vigorous development of international and domestic commercial arbitration in China. The mission has brought greater opportunities and challenges. For more than 20 years since the implementation of China's "Arbitration Law", China's commercial arbitration has developed in an all-round way. China's arbitration institutions represented by the CIETAC have become a new force in international commercial arbitration.
This year marks the 60th anniversary of the adoption of the New York Convention. For 60 years, the New York Convention has been widely accepted and observed by the international community. It has been hailed as the most successful international convention in the history of the arbitration industry, and has escorted international trade investors. On the occasion of the 60th anniversary, the outstanding achievements of the New York Convention are worthy of commemoration and ode, and deserve more comprehensive and in-depth research. This year is also a year of changing international economic situation. Since the United States announced its withdrawal from the TPP in 2017, Sino-US trade friction has intensified because of the official listing of China's crude oil futures and retaliatory tariff measures, and international trade and investment disputes have become increasingly prominent. At a time when the Chinese economy is highly integrated into the world and is committed to becoming a world international arbitration center, how to maintain a proper order in the increasingly complex international trade and investment environment, how to more effectively resolve the disputes of the parties, and how to provide international arbitration with China Distinctive experience in arbitration, and better use of the advanced concepts of international arbitration to develop Chinese arbitration, how China's international commercial arbitration system stands in the world arbitration stage in terms of integration and differences, how to win international trade investment partners and national lawyers and arbitrators Trust are the topics that should be studied in depth by the legislative, arbitral, judicial, lawyer, business, and academic circles. At the same time, in order to explore and cultivate our international commercial arbitration professionals, enhance the international competitiveness of China's international commercial arbitration, and promote the strategic process of building China into an international arbitration center, we will launch the 6th National International Commercial Arbitration essay competition of the “Zhonglun Cup”.The essay matters are hereby announced as follows.
