On April 18th , the International Cooperation Bureau of the Supreme People's Court and the Institute of International Law of Wuhan University signed the "Framework Agreement for Cooperation between the International Cooperation Bureau of the Supreme People's Court and Wuhan University" and established the International Judicial Assistance Research Base of the Supreme People's Court (Wuhan University), in order to conduct important theoretical research on international judicial assistance.
The two sides agreed that the establishment of the research base can make use of the superior subject resources of the Institute of International Law of the University of Seoul to provide theoretical research support for China's promotion of international judicial cooperation and better serve the country's foreign legal system. After the signing ceremony, representatives of the two sides conducted in-depth discussions and exchanges on how to use the base as a platform for collaborative research on important theoretical and practical issues in the field of international judicial assistance.
The establishment of the research base was carried out by the Supreme People's Court in implementing the "Decision of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China on Comprehensively Advancing Several Major Issues Concerning the Rule of Law" adopted by the Fourth Plenary Session of the 18th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, "Deepening the international cooperation in the judicial field and improving the judicial assistance system of our country. Expanding the requirements of international judicial assistance coverage, strengthening the theoretical and practical research of the people's courts on international judicial assistance, improving the international influence of China's judiciary, promoting the organic integration of the international judicial assistance work of the people's courts and the theoretical research of international law, and opening up for a higher level of development, are important measures to ensure the protection of the internationalization of the rule of law.
