First of all, congratulations on your graduation! I use this word "Ao" because it is only this word that reflects the suffering of the students over the years, the helplessness of the teachers and the expectations of the parents. Two days ago, I attended an academic conference organized by the Asian Society of International Law in Hanoi, Vietnam. Your classmate Wang Yishun contacted me and hoped that I would write a few words for the 16th Anniversary of the School of Law. Since I set myself a rule 9 years ago: I don’t want to repeat the annual opening ceremony and graduation ceremony, so I thought for a long time. Fortunately, my term of office is coming soon, and I don’t have to worry about it anymore! Considering that after class, some of them have to study for further study, some have to work for a living, and some have to benefit from politics. I wrote three sentences: Don't lose your thoughts, make money, don't lose your faith, and be honest, don't forget your heart.

Everyone knows that important things are said three times! I will repeat it here today.

First, when you read more books, don't lose thinking

I remember that at the awarding ceremony of the Reading Festival organized by Wuhan University in the previous year, I once said: Only good reading and good books can contribute to reading well! President Li Xiaohong added: There should be another book to read. Think carefully, is the book really good to read? I thought that only readers who think independently can talk to the author; only readers who think independently can grasp the end of the problem and understand the things. As the "DaXue" said: "There are basis and end in every objects while things always have beginning and ending. Knowing the order, then you will get the nearest way to success." Confucius said "learning but not thinking makes one person confused" is also the truth.

However, please note to the students: The Internet age is eroding people's reading habits. The education concept of most Chinese people regards reading as a means for children to enter the society to acquire knowledge and skills, so there is a slogan of "knowledge changes fate." In fact, knowledge itself may not be able to change its destiny; what really can change its destiny is a sound attitude towards life that people have learned for a long time.

Classmates, when you ask for knowledge, if you don't meet your original knowledge, you can only put it there, there is no "chemical reaction", you can't become your own nourishment. The human stomach can handle a variety of foods, automatically divide them into nutrients and waste, and then deliver them to different organs according to the needs of the human body. Readers need to think about the brain and absorb the knowledge in books, which is used for growth learning. This is the same principle as the function of the stomach. Talking about ‘chemical reflections’ is not only important for individuals but also for a group. Presumably, many of my classmates saw the NBA Finals Game 6 yesterday. The Cavaliers successfully dragged the Finals into the tie-break. Is it the Warriors or the Cavaliers that can finally win? At this level of competition, I see the key to see the team. The chemical reaction is better.

If you don’t think about it, you can easily develop the habit of copying the dogma of the book. If such a person is an ordinary person, his words and deeds are ridiculous. At most, it is a pedantic nerd, and it is harmless. But if the task is entrusted, the consequences will be terrible. During the Three Kingdoms period, Ma Zhaozhao’s move to teach books and regulations led to the collapse of the street pavilion and his own beggars. Li De, a communist international military adviser during the Second Revolutionary War, copied the textbooks of the Soviet Military Academy and directed the Red Army to fight with strong enemies, making the Chinese revolution almost Suffered from the disaster.

This shows that reading and thinking are inseparable. Only by combining the two can we contribute to personal progress and career development. Each of us should bear in mind the teachings of the sages: read and think, read good thoughts, and read carefully. Don't read stubbornly, read dead books, and finally lead to death!

Second, even if the money earns a lot, don’t lose faith

Many Westerners believe that Chinese people have no faith, and many people think that Chinese people believe in money, and Yi Zhongtian believes that Chinese people "have no faith." In fact, although most Chinese do not have religious beliefs, it does not mean that Chinese people have no faith. Because faith is not necessarily related to religion, it must be related to the fulfillment and stability of our hearts.

A brief review of China's reform and opening up process can be found: for the first 20 years, to solve the relationship between people and matter, so "satisfaction", "well-off", "double quadruple", all material concepts; after more than 20 years of development When the material reaches a certain level, the "harmonious society" becomes our goal; isn't the "harmonious society" to solve the relationship between people? When history enters today, the Chinese are faced with how to solve the problem. The relationship with your heart. As Bai Yansong said: "After affluence, you should always believe something, such as sincerity, such as friendship, such as just enough, such as 'Good will be rewarded with good, and evil with evil,' only to let yourself be peaceful, but also to infect people around you. To be happy."

Today's China has opened a new era of comprehensively governing the country according to law, and has also opened a new era of the rule of law. As the dean, I certainly hope that every graduate of our law school will have a rule of law belief, use the rule of law and the rule of law to meet all kinds of difficulties and obstacles and resolve various contradictions and challenges.

Because the meaning of the rule of law is important to the country, it is equally important to the people. Looking at the history of China and foreign countries, the wise of the monarchy, the mighty army, and the vast territory of the territory may create a prosperous and prosperous scene of the country's prosperity and prosperity, but most of them fail to give social individuals lasting and effective protection in terms of freedom, equality and justice. For the individual, the rule of law is a safe haven for freedom, equality and justice, and is the patron saint of order and justice. Because the king's scepter is not enough, the soldiers' weapons are not available to ordinary people. Only law is the most realistic, direct and powerful weapon to protect citizens' rights!

But the rule of law is not a sculpture standing on the square, nor a vase placed in a cupboard. Only by being faithed, can the law have dignity, authority and vitality, in order to establish the concept of law supremacy in people's minds. As the famous jurist Berman said, ‘The law must be believed, otherwise it will be in vain.’

But what is faith?What can be proved is knowledge. Accepting knowledge is not belief. It is rational. Faith is aimed at things that are invisible, intangible, unrealized, or even impossible to prove. Faith can only be grasped and confirmed by a kind of inner passion. Therefore, faith is essentially a kind of ‘prejudice’, but this ‘prejudice’ transcends the specific situation of reality, with stable value judgment and powerful self-convincing function.

How can we establish the rule of law belief in our country? Only by sticking to the optimism of the rule of law is the belief that the rule of law has the advantage of believing that the rule of law will take root and thrive in China and can be gradually achieved. If everyone, especially our law school graduates, consciously and sincerely hold this optimism, the rule of law in China will have a consciousness and conceptual basis, and the rule of law will slowly form and spread. It can be said that when you choose a legal profession, the rule of law belief becomes your most basic obligation.

Third, even if the official is high, don't forget the initial heart

Needless to say, the future rule of law in China requires more legal people to take the lead. Wuhan University recently positioned the undergraduate talent training target as ‘leader talent and national backbone’, and looked at the outstanding alumni wall of the law school. Its preferred standard is also ‘high official’. I want to remind you that when the official is a high-risk occupation, you have to know whether you can hold it. There are two important points to this:

On the one hand, don't forget your heart. The so-called initial heart is the original intention of the human being. The ardent heart of a party member cadre is not forgetting his own pledge to join the party, not forgetting the party's purpose, and not forgetting the book. To hold on to the initial heart, we must constantly strengthen our ideals and beliefs, build up our ideological defenses, strengthen party spirit, and uphold the spirits of the Communists. To hold on to the initial heart, we must keep in mind the party's purpose, take the interests of the people as the highest interest, and always stand the people. Position: To hold on to the initial heart, we must "Emulate those better than oneself", and constantly eliminate the dirt on the mind; to keep the initial heart, we must be cautious about initial heart, small things and behaviour alone and pay attention to things however big or small. Do not indulge, do not have a heart of luck, do not give birth to non-divided thoughts, with a keen attitude to start and end, write a white and noble life chapter.

Second, without losing humanity, we will protect party spirit. Some time ago, a post of the court president "On the party nature regardless of humanity" was posted on Weibo. The dean is said to be a graduate of a well-known university law school. Regarding the relationship between party spirit and human nature, is it the end and the end, or the source and the flow, is it a mutual promotion, or a foundation and sublimation? I have no research, and I dare not add to this assertion.

However, I believe that party members and cadres are also human beings and cannot talk about party spirit without human nature. Because human beings exist as creatures and spirits of all things, they also have their biological instinct and human instinct. Instinct is something that is deeply rooted in human nature. Communists often claim that "the Communists are made of special materials," but they are not made of special materials. As a party member, the first is a person, then the party member. When we talk about human nature and talk about party spirit, we must recognize and understand the intrinsic instinct of human nature, such as survival instinct, good and evil instinct, self-fulfilling instinct and so on. Only by treating, acknowledging and respecting the instinct of these humanities can we always adhere to the party spirit and continue to be pure and party spirit. Therefore, I said: only if you keep being human, will you keep a party-oriented heart.
